Add a loading percent to the uploading. All it does is have a loading bar and now thing saying where it is at in the uploading process.
Last if you could let us set an option to put it under maintenance so no one but admins can access it that would be really great!
We don’t anticipate that a new version will affect your existing site – we will know more later this month.
The uploading percent is something we are looking at doing. I like the idea of the maintenance mode – will speak to our developer about that.

Whilst ioncube is there this is historic – the code is open source and you can access it. It may be in future we re-use ioncube to keep the license in tact – should we do this we would not inhibit being able to access the rest of the code. Hope that makes sense?

I feel that having a great community of assistance will automatically preserve the license. Like so many php platforms already. This will lead to many different versions of the program. The download is not working for 1.0.3 oe 1.0.3a. how ever the update for flowplayer is. When click on download it goes to a blank page that’s it. Am I missing something

We are running an older version of vidiscript, where we paid for the licenses for a number of addons. we have moved a script to a new domain and addons dont work. I note the new version’s addons appear to come as standard – pro player etc. We would either like new license codes or some info about safely updating to the new script without major issues to the SQL database.
I have the original vidiscript running but have just had my sites migrated to a different server and now my licence says it’s invalid so I can’t use the pro player or the scroller. Do you have the pro player?
I paid for both of these and now vidiscript is gone I am knackered. I ain’t too bothered about the scroller but I really need the pro player.

No, I’m on LAMP. The “installation error” thread. To me it looks (or, well, feels) like install/index.php tries to fetch non-existant data from the database before the POST, but I’m probably wrong. We’re at least 3 people with the same error though.

I installed ver.1.0.3. But i have a problem with thumnail size. All thumbs in program are square 96×96. Wanna ratio 144×96.
I changed in skin1.css parameters. It show in program thumbnails 144×96. But if i try to copy thumbs in another site, its ratio 144×96.

I am a developer at Softaculous, an auto installer for PHP, PERL and JavaScripts. We have 225 scripts in our script list and we are adding many more. Vidiscript is already included in our script list.

probably your ffmpeg settings are wrong, assuming you are using phpmyadmin and can access the database, goto the settings table on the second page there is a setting which shows the path vidiscript is using to convert videos.
copy paste the entire thing usually “/usr/bin/ffmpeg” and type this on the command line, if this command doesnt work , you dont have ffmpeg installed ,
this is the usual culprit. on ubuntu sudo apt-get install ffmpeg will get you there. let me know if this helps.

Hey when i upload images to Vidscript if the images are tall they get flattened , is there a place were i can change that, or what’s the php form that regulates the size, so as to edit the size manually. If you hvae an addon or anything i could use, please tell me were i could upload it.
We automatically resize images to the aspect ratio of the display boxes. So the uploaded images must be in the same height to width ratio. We do not have an addon at the moment.

I installed Vidiscript on a server with cPanel and suPHP enabled and when I try to access the My Profile or My Media page the script stops responding. Can you please tell me what am I missing ?
Can you send me some error logs for the said error, we have not tried this on any server with suPHP and dont think it should affect our script in any way.
Pls send me the logs or give us a sand box environment where we could try and replicate this problem. I’ve tried installing via softaculous on couple of hosts

Great looking program, I downloaded and setup on my server host, but buttons do not work for the admin, only the lower set of buttons…I continually get an error about 403? I uploaded to a subdirectory and entered the name as mentioned…still not working properly…any help would be greatly appreciated.

I still am getting a 404, not a 403 error as stated earlier. Whenever I try to login, it goes to the http://www.mysite.com/account
and then says 404…aaaahhhhh…I am a bit frustrated…any help would be appreciated again.

It seems your url rewrites are not working , other wise the site is working fine.
you’ve got 2 installations of vidiscript , i think you are sharing the same database coz it should on say
“yousite.com/Vidiscript/whatever/” when it runs from “yoursite.com” . Enable mod_rewrite and create the host in
apache configuration.
definitely url rewrite , i was able to register and login and upload a video. there are other problems of permissions etc on you site as well.

when you get rid of permission denied error ,other 2 errors will disappear which are the byproduct of first error.

templates are at HTMLization stage so you’ll have to wait for that but 2 modern templates are in the making. this version is not designed to be backward compatible so there’s no easy way to upgrade your site at the moment. sorry

I have been trying to install vidiscript on my website through Softaculous but it is giving me error 500. I have tried alot of things but its not working. Can you help me?
I am having the same issues as other installing VidiScript saying it can not install to PHP 5.3+ and I checked with my Hosting Service and they said
“The reason for getting the error while installing vidiscript may be due to the difference in php version. The demo is running on a PHP 5.3.2 server while our server is with PHP Version 5.3.16″
Do you know if this would cause VidiScript to fail to install? and if so do you know when you will have it updated to work with the newest PHP?
Thanx Paul and other who’ve pointed out the problem with vidiscript and php 5.3. Now that Paul has given the exact cause . I’ll give it a shot and try to solve it. U are right we seem to be loosing ground we’ll try to pickup development as we get time.
Here is a little more information, I am with HostMDS where I am having problems installing ViDiScript. If you can not test with them to see why it is not installing onto there PHP Version 5.3.16 then could you please contact them and ask them to remove and replace you on thier offerings list, They also offer ClipBucket and while it has installed just fine I really liked the features better for ViDiScript and while the comments on each product make it look like VidiScript is loosing ground to ClipBucket as being the most popular if we at HostMDS can not install it then it would be nice if they had at least one other compairable service to offer, I am not very Techie or I would look outside the box to see if there is even better choices then just you and ClipBucket that I could use. Please advise on your position with this so I can focus my efforts in the best way possible. Thank You…

I cannot ask you to bank on us releasing fixes anytime soon. If this software does not meet your needs at the moment in the environment of your choice ,u are probably better off with some other offering. Our focus at the moment is our build system and code quality measurement. Feel free to check em out, both are a bit slow to load.
Please can you customise vidiscript to suit my requirement for a video website where users/guests can sign up to watch videos for free and make a payment to watch videos unlimitedly on the website.
I also want to be able to add/remove videos, images etc from and to the website like a cms.
you can already add/remove videos like a cms , login as admin and explore the options on the right side admin menu.
we will not be able to take any custom development in the near future. Feature u mentioned is one of many that are already included in our plans.

Okay, this is usually because of .htaccess or not creating a host correctly in apache.
1) check permissions for .htaccess
should be

pls send me error and access log for your installation on the . I cannot understand what exactly is wrong.
It seems your url rewrites are not working , other wise the site is working fine.
you’ve got 2 installations of vidiscript , i think you are sharing the same database coz it should on say
“yousite.com/Vidiscript/whatever/” when it runs from “yoursite.com” . Enable mod_rewrite and create the host in
apache configuration.
Test
Try this as http://yoursite.com/index.php?id=1
Try this as well http://yoursite/Vidiscript/index.php?id=1
keep increasing the id= 1 Thru * and all the functions are working.
You just need to fix your URL Rewrites.
definitely url rewrite , i was able to register and login and upload a video. there are other problems of permissions etc on you site as well.
site is unusable without those fixes. email me @ nishant@vidiscript.co.uk for more help with logs.

The script is great, looks great and now we are going to have fun with it…hopefully members from our camera club will now put up some of their videos…many times there videos are slideshows set to music…

permission problem on widget.xml
do a ‘ls -lah’ on the watchednow directory ,it should look like the next line
drwxr-xr-x 2 www-data www-data 4.0K Nov 5 09:33 watchednow
and again inside the watched now directory.
widget.xml should look like

when you get rid of permission denied error ,other 2 errors will disappear which are the byproduct of first error.

I am still having problems with the icons for the movies…they are not showing up, only the default ones? Am I doing something incorrectly.
I thought that this software can produce a thumb for the video…or am I mistaken?

that depends on their email client [outlook,gmail or whatever] , I’ve enabled the embedding in the demo site @ dev.vidiscript.co.uk/userdemo/
you can try the embed code made available there. That embed code is intended to be inserted in the html code of a page and not as text.

I am having problems installing the program.
I am using godaddy shared hosting service. Not sure if that is an issue? (is it compatible with your software?)
I followed all the installation steps including changing permissions to 777 as stated.
But in step 4 when it says to use the install script at mysite.com/install or mysite.com/video/install i get a 404 error. i.e. the page can not be found.
Can you please help?

using shared hosting will be an issue when you upload/convert videos for variety of reasons.
however installation should work. pls send me a link to your site. you can email to nishant@vidiscript.co.uk .
Coz there’s nothing there that can go wrong. Unless you are literally typing mysite.com/video/install/
you actually have to type mysite/nameOfUnzippedFolder/VidiScript/install/
usually the zip file is unzipped to vidiscript1.0.3a so your install path would be http://mysite.com/vidiscript1.0.3a/VidiScript/install/
please note the capital ‘V’ and ‘S’ in VidisScript in the second part. I cannot think of any other reason for a 404.

templates are at HTMLization stage so you’ll have to wait for that but 2 modern templates are in the making. this version is not designed to be backward compatible so there’s no easy way to upgrade your site at the moment. sorry
Please help. I have installed the vidiscript software thru softaculous and love it but have issue with uploading videos. i can embed fine but i try to upload and it looks like it loads but after its done theres no video on main screen or the admin screen either. thanks

I am having the same issues as other installing VidiScript saying it can not install to PHP 5.3+ and I checked with my Hosting Service and they said
“The reason for getting the error while installing vidiscript may be due to the difference in php version. The demo is running on a PHP 5.3.2 server while our server is with PHP Version 5.3.16″
Do you know if this would cause VidiScript to fail to install? and if so do you know when you will have it updated to work with the newest PHP?

Thanx Paul and other who’ve pointed out the problem with vidiscript and php 5.3. Now that Paul has given the exact cause . I’ll give it a shot and try to solve it. U are right we seem to be loosing ground we’ll try to pickup development as we get time.
Here is a little more information, I am with HostMDS where I am having problems installing ViDiScript. If you can not test with them to see why it is not installing onto there PHP Version 5.3.16 then could you please contact them and ask them to remove and replace you on thier offerings list, They also offer ClipBucket and while it has installed just fine I really liked the features better for ViDiScript and while the comments on each product make it look like VidiScript is loosing ground to ClipBucket as being the most popular if we at HostMDS can not install it then it would be nice if they had at least one other compairable service to offer, I am not very Techie or I would look outside the box to see if there is even better choices then just you and ClipBucket that I could use. Please advise on your position with this so I can focus my efforts in the best way possible. Thank You…

I cannot ask you to bank on us releasing fixes anytime soon. If this software does not meet your needs at the moment in the environment of your choice ,u are probably better off with some other offering. Our focus at the moment is our build system and code quality measurement. Feel free to check em out, both are a bit slow to load.

you can already add/remove videos like a cms , login as admin and explore the options on the right side admin menu.
we will not be able to take any custom development in the near future. Feature u mentioned is one of many that are already included in our plans.
